When words fail you, I'll be there

I'm a trained journalist and published author with over 30 years experience penning stories that matter. I am also an accomplished and trusted public speaker. It's fair to say I have a way with words.

I have worked as a newspaper reporter, newspaper editor, broadcaster and radio presenter for many years. I worked on regional radio stations in the 1980s and 1990s. I also spent the past 12 years working in the public sector as a media officer.

​

I am a local historian and author of two popular books:

Guto: Story of the Nos Galan Road Races

and David Dower, Fighter, Family Man, Legend

- the latter being the official biography of the life of the former Welsh, British and European boxing champion, the late David Dower MBE, fully endorsed by his family. I often have been trusted to tell the most wonderful meaningful stories.

I qualified with the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) in 1990 and worked as a local newspaper reporter, becoming a newspaper editor in 1993 on the Cynon Valley Leader, which was part of Western Mail and Echo Ltd, a position I proudly held for 20 years. During this time the newspaper celebrated it's centenary and also won the UK Weekly Newspaper of the Year Award in recognition of it's success and the historic part the newspaper played in saving from closure, Tower Colliery - the last deep mine in Wales.

Throughout my career I have met, interviewed and come in contact with many people from all different walks of life - celebrities, royalty, politicians, public figures and most importantly the public. I've encountered many different cultures, beliefs and religions and am respectful to all. 

I pride myself on my professional manner, always.

As well as travelling the country regularly giving talks on my books, over the past 25 years, I have written and delivered many eulogies and funeral services, speaking at other public ceremonies and making public statements.

 

I trained and qualified as a family celebrant because I want to continue to share others stories, in a meaningful, impactful and memorable way. I have a passion for hearing about others lives, and love, and wanting to learn what's important to them.
